In Friuli vengono conservate numerose uccellande storiche, realizzate originariamente per cacciare i volatili a scopo alimentare e commerciale. Vietata la pratica dal 1992, tolte le reti e le dotazioni adoperate per la cattura degli uccelli, restano le strutture vegetali. Le possiamo apprezzare sia scorgendole da lontano impreziosire i paesaggi, sia percorrendole, attraversando gallerie e stanze ‘verdi’, affascinanti come architetture, incantevoli come i parchi e i giardini. La guida racconta testimonianze di persone e comunità’, vero patrimonio culturale materiale e immateriale, e fornisce indicazioni corredate da cartine topografiche per raggiungerle a piedi o in mountain bike seguendo facili percorsi nella natura.

Friuli conserves a large number of historic uccellande, designed and built to capture birds, once both a source of food and object of trade. When this practice was banned in 1992, the nets were removed together with the other devices used to catch birds, leaving only the vegetal structures of these traps. We can now appreciate them from afar as jewels in the landscape and while wandering through these ‘emerald’ tunnels and rooms, as fascinating as any work of architecture and as enchanting as any park or garden. This guide presents the testimonials of people and communities, a true tangible and intangible heritage. It provides directions, accompanied by topographic maps, for visiting them on foot or by mountain bike, travelling along comfortable paths immersed in nature.
