Il rilievo integrato complesso di Galleria Borghese / The complex integrated survey of the Galleria Borghese

La Galleria Borghese è da anni al centro di consistenti studi che la indagano sotto diversi aspetti: quello storico, legato ai cambiamenti che ha subito nel corso dei secoli; quello architettonico, legato alle caratteristiche morfologiche e formali; quello artistico, relativo alle importanti opere pittoriche e scultoree che sono esposte al suo interno. La volontà di documentare i diversi aspetti comporta, in prima istanza, la necessità di acquisire queste informazioni e, in secondo luogo, la costruzione di una base di dati che consenta di archiviarle e divulgarle. Il volume illustra il processo adottato nell’ambito di un vasto progetto scientifico e culturale che, promosso dalla Direzione del Museo e Galleria Borghese, ha coinvolto il Dipartimento di Storia, Disegno e Restauro dell’Architettura di Sapienza Università di Roma. I risultati ottenuti, sebbene olisticamente ancorati all’oggetto di studio, possono suggerire una replicabilità in termini di metodo allo studio del patrimonio architettonico.

The Galleria Borghese has for many years been the object of major studies focusing on several important issues: its history, and the changes it has undergone down through the centuries; its architecture, and in particular its morphological and formal characteristics; its art, and the important paintings and sculptures displayed within its walls. Documenting all these issues initially involves gathering information and data and then developing a database so that the latter can be archived and published.
This book illustrates the workflow used to perform a wide-ranging scientific and cultural project which, promoted by the Management of the Borghese Galleria and Museum, involved the Department of History, Representation and Restoration of Architecture of Sapienza University of Rome. Although the results are holistically linked to the object of the research, it is possible to replicate the method used to study this architectural heritage.
