Peter Kim è un artista interessato a percorrere i sentieri più intimi e impervi dell’esperienza umana, esplorando, attraverso l’atto di creazione, le articolazioni più segrete della forma. La sua ricerca espressiva lo spinge a prediligere i tempi lunghi della domanda piuttosto che la frenesia della risposta, la sua opera è il frutto di un’immersione quasi meditativa nel mistero della vita e nei vortici del tempo.
I lavori di Kim nascono attraverso la lenta e reiterata apposizione di brevi linee curve sulla tela. Come in una meditazione lenta e ritmata, l’artista si attarda ai bordi del reale, insistendo sui limiti e sullo splendore della forma, sul vuoto che essa delinea, su quell’orlo dove si decide il destino delle cose. Peter Kim is an artist interested in going down the innermost and impervious paths of human experience, exploring – through the act of creation – the most secret folds of form. His expressive research spurs him to prefer the lengthy times of the question rather than the frenzy of the answer and his work is the fruit of an almost meditative immersion into the mystery of life and the vortex of time.
Peter Kim’s works develop through the slow and reiterated stroke of short curved lines on the canvas. As in a slow and rhythmic meditation, the artist lingers on the edges of reality, stalling on the rims and the splendour of the form, on the void that it outlines, on the brink on which the destiny of things is decided. Peter Kim’s favourite form is the bowl and the exhibition on display at the Carlo Bilotti Museum of Rome is dedicated to this theme: not to the image or shape of the bowl but to the bowl as an archetypical form, the symbol of a notion and of an experience shared by Humankind in every epoch and culture.
