Oriente e Occidente – East and West

Questo volume raccoglie gli interventi e alcune immagini dell’incontro tra uomini di cultura e di fede dell’Oriente e dell’Occidente che si è svolto a Firenze nel giugno del 2015.
Due mondi a confronto: l’Occidente europeo e il mondo orientale arabo-islamico. Si parlano. C’è oggi una grande novità, con cui Oriente e Occidente devono fare i conti: l’affermazione del mondo globale, che ha messo in discussione le identità, nazionali, religiose, di civiltà. Siamo entrati – da alcuni anni – in un radicale processo di cambiamento, che tutto rimette in discussione, travalica i confini, ridiscute identità tradizionali acquisite.

This book collects the contributions and some pictures of the meeting between men of culture and faith from the East and the West that took place in Florence in June 2015.
Two worlds in dialogue: the European West and the Eastern Arab-Islamic world; they are talking to each other. Nowadays there is something new East and West have to deal with: the rise of the global world which has challenged our civilizations’ national and religious identities. In just a handful of years, we have found ourselves in a radical process of change which challenges everything, travels beyond borders and questions long-held traditional identities.
