Alamar Express Lab

Tra marzo 2006 e settembre 2007, un collettivo di artisti indipendenti de L’Avana (Omni Zonafranca) e un collettivo di attivisti italiani (Associazione Inventati) hanno dato luce ad Alamar Express Lab, uno spazio dove attivismo negli spazi pubblici e cultura di Rete si sono mescolati. Un esperimento: uso creativo e critico della tecnologia open source per migliorare la coesione sociale di Alamar, una periferia cubana. L’incontro è avvenuto durante la IX Biennale dell’Avana. Questo libro è l’ultimo passo del progetto Alamar Express Lab e delinea la storia e la pratica di Omni Zonafranca, che usa poesia e arte per sostenere umanità e senso della comunità nella società cubana.
Between march 2006 and September 2007, a collective of independent artists from a periphery of La Havana (Omni Zonafranca) and an activist collective from Italy (Associazione Inventati), gave birth together to Alamar Express Lab. The lab is a space where activism in public spaces and networking attitude merged into an experiment: creative and critical use of open source technology in order to improve social communication in Alamar, a peripheral community of a Cuban suburbia. The meeting and foundation of the Lab took place in march 2006, during the first participation of Omni to the IX Havana Biennale. This book is the last step of Alamar Express Lab and aims to define Omni Zonafranca ar tistic practice, which focuses on improving the human side of social behaviours with Art and Poetry. Using street style attitude and language, Omni shows that there is another possible way of existing, based on common needs, common political and cultural background and common humanity.

Dottore di ricerca, studioso di Arte Contemporanea e docente, LUCREZIA CIPPITELLI è anche critico d’arte e curatore, con un curriculum internazionale di ricerche, mostre, insegnamenti e ideazione di progetti di cooperazione culturale realizzati per biennali, mostre, centri culturali, università ed accademie internazionali. Lucrezia vive tra Bruxelles e Roma, insegna Estetica all’Accademia di Belle Arti de L’Aquila ed è Visiting Scholar all’Institute for the Comparative Modernities della Cornell University.

Phd, scholar and professor, LUCREZIA CIPPITELLI is also an ar t writer and curator, with a curriculum of international researches, exhibitions, professorships and cultural cooperation projects developed in major International Biennals, exhibitions, cultural centers, universities and academies.
Lucrezia lives between Brussels and Rome, teaches Aesthetics at the Art Academy of L’Aquila and is Visiting Scholar at the Institute for the Comparative Modernities of Cornell University.
