Sin dal 1978 in Judith Cowan troviamo incorporata la prima chiave della storia recente dell’arte, quella della dematerializzazione, individuata da Lucy Lippard nei sei anni tra 1966-1972 e descritta nel suo Six Years. Se possiamo parlare dunque della Cowan come di una dei maggiori esponenti della New British Sculpture dagli anni 80, in quella linea che ha come suoi massimi esponenti Stephen Cox, Tony Cragg e Anish Kapoor, Judith Cowan spicca per il suo esprit de finesse, unito al suo spirito di contraddizione. Lo farà ritrovando e ibridando a suo fine le tre filosofie clou dei maestri non solo inglesi degli anni Sessanta e Settanta, minimalista (Richard Long, Robert Morris) povera (Luciano Fabro, Mario Merz) testimoniale (Beuys, poi Boltanski).

Simonetta Lux è professore ordinario di Storia dell’Arte Contemporanea nell’Università di Roma “La Sapienza”. Ha creato e dirige nella stessa università il Museo Laboratorio di Arte Contemporanea (MLAC). Dal 2003 è direttore della rivista “luxflux proto-type arte contemporanea”. Ha scritto libri e saggi di arte contemporanea, architettura, design, archeologia industriale.

Simonetta Lux is Professor of the History of Contemporary Art at Rome University, “La Sapienza” where she has created and directs MLAC (Museo Laboratorio di Arte Contemporanea). She has edited the review “luxflux proto-type arte contemporanea” since 2003. Professor Lux has written books and articles on contemporary art, architecture, design, industrial archaeology.
